Three Matis Baum O’Connor Attorneys chosen as 2019 PA Super Lawyers® Rising Stars

Matis Baum O’Connor is proud to announce that Cassidy L. Neal, Michael J. Wiesemann, and Corey C. Kirkwood have been selected by both Philadelphia Magazine and Pittsburgh Magazine as 2019 Pennsylvania Super Lawyers “Rising Stars,” an honor bestowed on only the top 2.5% of practicing attorneys in Pennsylvania, age 40 or younger or in practice for ten years or less.
Ms. Neal, a shareholder, focuses her practice on the defense of health care professionals in medical malpractice cases, civil rights actions, and professional licensing matters. Ms. Neal has been recognized as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyers “Rising Star” in every year from 2016-19. Prior to joining Matis Baum O’Connor in 2012, Ms. Neal served as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Judith K. Fitzgerald of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Mr. Wiesemann, an associate, defends physicians and health care professionals in medical malpractice litigation. Prior to joining Matis Baum O’Connor in 2018, Mr. Wiesemann practiced in the Pittsburgh office of a large international law firm where he represented clients in civil litigation and managed corporate clients’ national litigation portfolios. Mr. Wiesemann previously served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Jeffrey Deller of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Mr. Kirkwood, an associate, practices civil litigation with a concentration on medical malpractice defense and health care law. Prior to joining Matis Baum O’Connor in 2017, Mr. Kirkwood served as a law clerk to the Honorable Katherine B. Emery, President Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Washington County. For the last three years, he has served as a coach for the Duquesne University and the Trinity High School mock trial teams, leading the Trinity team to three District Championships and two top-five finishes at the State Championship Tournament.
