Three MBO associates included in the 2023 Best Lawyers “Ones to Watch”
Matis Baum O’Connor is proud to announce that Best Lawyers has selected Michael J. Wiesemann, Corey C. Kirkwood and Julia F. Kurtz for inclusion in the 2023 Edition of its “Ones to Watch” list, an honor to recognize lawyers who are earlier in their careers for outstanding professional excellence in private practice.
Mr. Wiesemann, an associate, defends physicians and health care professionals in medical malpractice litigation. Mr. Wiesemann previously served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Jeffrey Deller of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Mr. Kirkwood, an associate, practices civil litigation with a concentration on medical malpractice defense and health care law. Prior to joining Matis Baum O’Connor in 2017, Mr. Kirkwood served as a law clerk to the Honorable Katherine B. Emery, President Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Washington County. Ms. Kurtz, an Associate, practices civil litigation with a concentration on medical malpractice defense, federal civil rights defense, and health care law. Prior to joining Matis Baum O’Connor, Ms. Kurtz worked as the Legislative Director for a Pittsburgh City Council Representative. Ms. Kurtz earned her Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and philosophy from West Virginia University in 2013 and her Juris Doctorate from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 2016.
