Baum O’Connor Cullen Chmiel announces First Female Managing Shareholder
PITTSBURGH, PA – January 1, 2025 – Baum O’Connor Cullen Chmiel, a leading Pittsburgh-based medical malpractice defense law firm, announced that Marian (“Mimi”) P. Cullen assumed the leadership role of Managing Shareholder effective January 1, 2025. In a firm that dates to the 1850s, Ms. Cullen will be the first female to hold this title.
Ms. Cullen will take over the leadership of the firm from Alan Baum who served as Managing Shareholder for 11 years.

Ms. Cullen joined the firm as a law clerk while in her third year of law school at the Duquesne University School of Law in 1994. She has been a Shareholder at the firm since 2000. In addition to her new leadership role, Ms. Cullen focuses on medical malpractice defense and has been previously recognized as one of the Top 50: Pittsburgh Super Lawyers. She is also a member of the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County and has served as a member of the Academy’s Membership Committee.
