Marna Karcher Blackmer’s practice focuses on the representation of physicians and health care professionals in medical malpractice litigation.
Prior to joining Baum O’Connor Cullen Chmiel in 2024, Mrs. Blackmer was a partner at a civil litigation defense firm in Pittsburgh, PA where she represented clients in a wide variety of civil matters, including bodily injury and/ or significant property damage lawsuits arising out of construction accidents/ defects, industrial accidents, fire losses, product liability, automobile accidents and premises liability. Her trial experience includes serving as lead trial counsel in multiple jury trials in state courts in Western Pennsylvania. She also represented clients in alternative dispute resolution forums.
For eight years, Mrs. Blackmer served as an elected School Director for a local school district in Allegheny County. Her roles included Vice President and Policy Committee Chair.
While in law school, Mrs. Blackmer was a law student extern for the Hon. Deborah L. Cook of The Supreme Court of Ohio and a legal intern in the Post-Trial Unit of the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office.
