ALLY Initiative Certification
Baum O’Connor Cullen Chmiel is proud to announce that we successfully completed the inaugural Allegheny County Bar Association ALLY Cohort program and received our certification at the ALLY graduation on November 10, 2022. Only a select number of legal organizations were selected to participate in the 2022 Cohort. The ALLY Initiative endeavors to engage law firms and other legal organizations to commit to increasing inclusivity, creating equitable workplaces and empowering historically marginalized and underrepresented members of the bar.
Baum O’Connor Cullen Chmiel became certified through active participation in various key programs and projects targeted to achieve ALLY’s objectives. Cassidy Neal led this project for the firm to help Baum O’Connor Cullen Chmiel complete the goals of the initiative. Examples include:partnering with black-owned or other minority-owned businesses for catering, participating in the ACBA diverse summer law student Summer Clerkship Program, hosting a meeting with OUTLaw Pittsburgh’s University of Pittsburgh School of Law branch, supporting GALS, sponsoring a donation drive for Hello Neighbor, participating in the ABA’s 21-Day Habit Building Challenges, offering employees the opportunity to add pronouns to their email signature block and creating a dedicated lactation space in our office. Baum O’Connor Cullen Chmiel would like to thank the ALLY Initiative for giving us the tools to focus on diversity equity and inclusion. We look forward to continuing our diversity, equity and inclusion efforts going forward!
