Mr. Hornbrook focuses his practice on medical malpractice defense litigation. He is engaged in the representation of physicians, physician practice groups, dentists and dental practices, nurses and other healthcare professionals in litigation involving malpractice as well as employment and administrative matters. Mr. Hornbrook also has experience representing employers in workers’ compensation cases.
Mr. Hornbrook has successfully defended his clients in all stages of litigation. Prior to joining Baum O’Connor Cullen Chmiel, Mr. Hornbrook spent three years with a large Philadelphia medical malpractice defense firm. His trial experience includes serving as lead trial counsel and second chair counsel in malpractice cases defending physicians, dentists and practice groups.
Mr. Hornbrook attended West Virginia University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management. He originally worked in minor league baseball with the Baltimore Orioles Class A affiliate Frederick Keys in Frederick, Maryland. He was the Director of Client Relations and Development and worked heavily in advertising, sales and game operations.
Mr. Hornbrook then attended Duquesne University School of Law and, while a student at Duquesne, Kent was the first student law clerk hired by Justice Debra Todd, then of the Pennsylvania Superior Court. Kent performed legal research, drafted Opinions, Orders and Memoranda for Justice Todd. Justice Todd recently became the first female chief justice of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
Results
Representation of a family practitioner accused of failure to diagnose necrotizing fasciitis in a truck driver after a horrific accident. After a four day jury trial, the jury returned a defense verdict for the physician and his practice group.
Defense of an orthopedic surgeon accused of failing to recognize diminished blood supply to an extremity after surgery. A unanimous defense verdict was returned in favor of the physician after a three day jury trial.
